Configure Benefit Accruals for an Employee Follow
Benefit accruals allow you to customize the rate at which vacation, sick, and other time off hours are calculated for each employee. It's perfect for fully-customized scenarios like full- and part-time employees, contractors, or employees not yet eligible for benefits. This article walks you through setting up benefit accruals on an employee's profile. To configure benefit accrual rates:
- Log in as an administrator or supervisor (with permissions).
- Click on the People tab.
- Click the name of the intended employee using the search function as needed.
- Click the Time Off tab from the navigation panel on the left.
- Click View/Edit in the Accrual section.
- Enter the start day for the accrual.
- Enter the starting balance of hours for each type of accrual (if applicable).
- Enter the rate at which hours accrue for this employee.
- Set how frequently the rate accrues from the dropdown.
- Select the checkbox to cap the maximum hours this employee can have at any time (if applicable) and enter the maximum hours.*
- Select which Overtime hour types should be included in the Hours Worked calculation.
- Repeat the steps below for each type of benefit (Vacation, Sick, Other) as applicable.
- Click Save and Close.
*Employees continue to accrue “over-cap” accrued hours in the background after hitting cap, but they cannot access these hours until they have taken time to lower them to below their cap amount at which point their hours refill with any available over-cap hours up to their cap.
