Punching for Lunches and Breaks on a Time Clock Follow
Employees can punch for lunches and breaks directly from a time clock, ensuring accurate tracking. This article will guide you through how to set up employees to punch for lunches and breaks on time clocks models with the lunch and break feature.
Step 1: Set Up Break and Lunch Rules
Break and lunch settings are configured in your department settings. These rules will apply based on the employee's home department, even if they are working a different department for the day. Once your break and lunch settings are set up, and employees' permissions to punch on a time clock have been enabled, the system will automatically handle the timecard calculations for you. Step 2: Ensure Employee Permissions are Enabled

Step 3: Punching on Time Clocks
The processes for punching varies slightly depending on the model of the time clock. Below are steps for each models. Click here for links to the specific steps for each model.
BN, BN-N, or CB Model Timeclocks
To punch for lunch or break, employees need to select the break or lunch option before authenticating at the time clock.
- Press the B-L (break-lunch) button.
- Use the Arrow button to select the correct option.
- Press OK.
- Authenticate at the timeclock.
- Press OK.
- Press OK to clear the confirmation screen.
JR or DR Model Timeclocks
For these models, employees must authenticate first, then the time clock will display options based on their most recent punch. If the correct option doesn't appear, press the Quick/All button to display all punch options.
- Authenticate at the timeclock.
- Select the correct Break or Lunch option to either start or end the break/lunch.
- Press the Log Out button to clear the confirmation screen.
