Track Employee Payroll Onboarding Status with the Onboarding Widget Follow
The Payroll Onboarding Status widget gives you a simple, at-a-glance view of where each person stands in their payroll onboarding process. Instead of wondering who still needs attention or discovering issues right before payroll, you can quickly see everyone’s status in one place.
This overview explains what the widget shows, when it appears, and how to use it to keep payroll running smoothly.
Payroll Onboarding Status Widget
The Payroll Onboarding Status widget appears on your payroll dashboard whenever someone on your account still needs to complete their onboarding steps.
When visible, use the widget to:
- See who still has onboarding steps left
- Understand what each person needs to complete their onboarding based on easy‑to‑read status labels
- Select a person’s name to open their profile
- Quickly identify anyone waiting on an onboarding email
If everyone is fully set up and ready to be paid, the widget will not display.
Payroll Onboarding Statuses
Each person appears under one of three payroll onboarding statuses. Statuses appear in the following order so you can focus on the highest‑priority items first:
- In Progress: The employee onboarding process has been started but is not complete..
- Not Started: A self‑onboarding email has been sent, but the employee has not opened it.
- Email Not Sent: The employee is set to self‑onboard, but their onboarding email has not been sent.
Tip: Hover over any status to view a short definition.
If an employee is set to self-onboard, a blue indicator appears in the Self-Onboarding column.
Employees Still Need to Be Set Up for Payroll?
If someone in your account is active but has not been included in payroll setup yet, the widget will display a message at the bottom with a link.
Click the link to view anyone not set for payroll and begin the onboarding process.
If no one is currently onboarding but there are people on the account who still need payroll setup, you will see a Continue Onboarding message.
Other Methods to Begin Onboarding
You can also begin the onboarding process when you add a person to your account or by enabling them for payroll in their profile.
Why Don't I See the Onboarding Widget?
The widget appears on your payroll dashboard whenever someone still has steps to complete. When everyone is fully set up and ready for payroll, the widget automatically goes away.
