Punched Lunch Break Options Follow
Easily configure and manage lunch breaks for employees punching on a time clock, smartphone app, or web portal. You can set paid lunch options, lunch lockout, and lunch premium pay.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The punch rounding rules set at the department level will apply to all punches, including breaks and lunches. If this is not appropriate for your organization, you may wish to disable this feature. It is your responsibility to comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Step 1: Log in as an Administrator or Supervisor.
- Administrators can configure lunch settings for all departments.
- Supervisors can be configured with permissions to view and/or edit departments. Their responsibility can also be limited to certain departments.
Step 2. Navigate to the Department
Lunch settings are applied based on the employee's home department, even if they work in a separate department temporarily.
- Click on the Departments tab.
- Click on the name of the intended department using the search feature as needed.
- Locate the Lunch Punches section.
Step 3. Configure Paid Lunch Amounts (If Applicable)
If your organization pays for part of the lunch break, follow these steps:
- Click EDIT on the line for the Add Up To option in the Lunch Punches section.
- Enter the duration of the paid lunch in hours and minutes (HH:MM). Any remaining time away will be deducted from the timecard.
- Click SAVE.
This option should be used alongside the Deduct Lunch Punches from the Timecard.
Step 4. Choose Whether to Deduct Lunch Punches
If any portion of the lunch break is unpaid, you can deduct this time from the employee's timecard:
- Click EDIT on the line for the Deduct Lunch Punches From The Timecard option.
- In the drop-down menu, select YES if the lunch punches should be deducted.
- Click SAVE.
Step 5. Configure Lunch Lockout (Optional)
Lunch lockout prevents employees from punching back in from lunch before a set time.
- Click EDIT on the line for the Lunch Lockout option.
- Select ENABLED from the drop-down menu.
- Click SAVE.
- Click EDIT on the line for the Lunch Lockout Duration option.
- Enter the desired lockout duration in hours and minutes (HH:MM). If employees attempt to punch before this time, they will receive a lockout message.
- Click SAVE.
6. Configure Lunch Premium Pay (Optional)
Lunch premium pay compensates employees who work beyond a specific threshold without taking a break.
- Click EDIT on the line for the Lunch Premium Pay option.
- Select ENABLED from the dropdown menu.
- Click SAVE.
- Select the premium pay threshold from the second dropdown menu.
- Select the amount of time to be added to the timecard from the third dropdown menu.
- Click Save.
