Meal (Lunch) Break Options Follow
Whether your lunches are paid, unpaid, or even if you want to set up an automatic deduction, uAttend has you covered, review the information below to find the right fit for your business needs.
Notes:
- Regarding lunch premium pay, it is the administrator's responsibility to research any federal and/or state laws that may apply to your organization. The uAttend support team cannot offer guidance on these matters. You should reach out to your HR and/or Legal team for advice.
- Supervisors can be configured with permissions to view and/or edit departments. Their responsibility can also be limited to certain departments.
- Department-level settings and rules are inherited from the employee's home department.
- Lunch settings will not be applied to punches that were manually added to the timecard.
- Break and Lunch punching options are not available on the Professional series timeclocks (see the features and specifications help file for your timeclock).
- Break and Lunch options can not be removed (or hidden).
- Automatic lunch deductions cannot be edited or deleted on a timecard.
To configure automatic unpaid meal break deductions, follow these steps. :
uAttend_automatic lunches
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal with an administrator or supervisor (with permissions) profile.
- Click on the Departments tab.
- Click on the name of the intended department or click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the window to search for a department.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Lunch Deduction/Duration option.
- Click the drop-down menu and select the intended threshold option (listed below) when the lunch deduction will be applied.
- After 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5 hours worked
- Click the drop-down menu and select the intended duration option (listed below) for the lunch deduction to be applied.
- Deduct 10, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 42, 45, 55, 60, 75, 90, 120 minutes
- Check the Recurring box, if this rule should be repeated in a shift.
- Click the SAVE button.
To configure punched meal breaks, follow these steps. :
uAttend punched lunches
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal with an administrator or supervisor (with permissions) profile.
- Click on the Departments tab.
- Click on the name of the intended department or click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the window to search for a department.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Add Up To option in the Lunch Punches section.
- Enter the duration (if applicable) of the paid lunch and the remainder of the time away on lunch will be deducted from the timecard.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Deduct Lunch Punches From The Timecard option (if applicable) if any amount of the lunch break is intended to be unpaid.
- Click the drop-down menu and select the YES option.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Lunch Lockout option (if applicable).
- Click the drop-down menu and select the ENABLED option.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Lunch Lockout Duration option.
- Enter the duration of the intended lunch lockout. Employees will receive a lockout message when attempting to return before this threshold.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Lunch Premium Pay option (if applicable).
- Click the drop-down menu and select the ENABLED option.
- Click the SAVE button.
