2-Step Verification Follow
2-Step Verification, sometimes called Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or two-step login, adds a layer of protection and significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your uAttend account. The 2-Step Verification feature will require users to verify their identity using a one-time code sent via email or text in addition to their standard username and password.
Note: To remember a device, cookies must be allowed and enabled for the site, not cleared. You may need to allow cookies for the site in your browser settings and the settings for any related browser extensions. If cookies are not allowed/enabled, you will have to enter 2-step verification on every login.
What does this mean for you?
All account administrators, supervisors, and employees will be required to authenticate with 2-step verification after logging in. The account admin can configure how often this must be done and can also reset a user's verification if needed. These efforts mean your account and data will be even more secure.
How 2-Step Verification Works
1. Enter your username and password as usual.
2. Choose to receive a one-time code via email or text.
3. The code will be sent to your selected email address or phone number.
Codes expire after 5 minutes. You can resend the code after 1 minute. Any previously issued codes become invalid.
4. Enter the code to verify your identity and access your account.
5. Choose to "remember this device" for added convenience.
What happens on a failed attempt?
You can attempt to enter the code up to 5 times. After 5 failed attempts, you will be prompted to send a new code. If you don't successfully verify after sending 3 codes, you will be prompted to reset your password.
Setting Up 2-Step Verification
After logging in, setting up your username or password, or resetting your password, you will be prompted to set up 2-Step Verification.
Select your preferred method (text or email) for receiving a one-time six-digit code.
Confirm or provide the email address or phone number where codes will be sent and send the code.
After receiving your code via text or email, enter the 6-digit code
Choose to "Remember this device."
Each user can have up to five remembered devices per contact method. When selected, you won't need to re-enter a verification code on that device for the remainder of your account's reset cycle - typically 30 days. You will always need a code for unrecognized devices or after the reset cycle period expires.
2-Step Verification Reset Cycle
The 2-Step Verification Reset Cycle determines how often you'll need to enter a verification code on remembered devices. The default setting is every 30 days; however, account administrators can adjust the reset cycle to one of the following:
- Every 7 days
- Every day
- Every log in
To adjust the 2-step verification reset cycle:
- Log in to the uAttend web portal as an account administrator.
- Click on your profile icon in the top right and select My Account.
- Locate the Security section in the Overview tab.
- Click EDIT for the 2-Step Verification Reset Cycle setting.
- Select the intended cycle.
- Click Save.
2-Step Verification and Password Resets
If you reset your password, all remembered devices will be removed. You must complete the 2-step verification process before accessing your account. This ensures the security of your account and protects your information from unauthorized access.
An account administrator can reset a person's 2-step verification from the Personal section of their user profile.
Can we turn off 2-step verification?
You cannot turn off 2-Step verification; it is required for all users to help keep your account, company details, and time and attendance data secure. You can adjust how often you are prompted for a code, but disabling it entirely is not possible.
