Print Paychecks Follow
Payroll Administrators can print or reprint paychecks with uAttend Payroll. You can access paychecks immediately after submitting payroll or return later to retrieve them from the Company Documents section.
Print Checks After Running Payroll
Once you complete a standard or off-cycle pay run, your checks and reports will automatically download as a PDF. You should be able to locate the files in your computer's Downloads folder or your Recent Download History in your web browser (depending on your browser's download settings).
If the files don’t download right away, click the download link for Checks/Paystubs on the confirmation screen.
The PDF files will include all checks and paystubs for the pay run, ready to print using standard 3-part check stock (check on top with fold lines on the sides). This stock can be purchased at most office supply stores.
Note: uAttend does not automatically mail or email checks, pay stubs, or payroll reports.
Run Payroll and Print Checks the Same Day
Good news! Even if your check date is in the future, you can print checks the same day you run payroll.
If you are processing payroll and try to set the check date to today's date, you may see an error. To avoid this, simply choose a check date in the future.
If even one employee in the pay run is using direct deposit, you will need to allow the standard three business day rule for the check date. For any paper checks, you can still print them immediately after running payroll, no waiting required.
Print Checks from a Past Pay Period
If you need to print or reprint checks from a previous pay run, go to the Company Documents to download individual checks or pay stubs.
To download checks from the Company Documents:
- Go to the Payroll tab in the web portal.
- Open the Company Documents sub-tab.
- Make sure you are in the Pay History section.
- Very Important: Click Sort/Filter at the top right and adjust the filters accordingly.
- Select the correct Check Date Range and click Apply. If you are not sure of the exact date, choose a broader range to view more results.
- Click the Download icon for each pay check or pay stub.
- After downloading, you can then print the check using check stock.
Mail or Email Checks
The uAttend system doesn't mail or email checks, pay stubs, or payroll reports. As the Payroll Administrator, you get to choose how to share this information, whether that is printing and handing out checks, emailing pay stubs, or using another internal process.
Troubleshoot Blank or Missing Checks
If the PDF files for checks and paystubs download but appear blank or won't open, try these quick fixes:
- Switch to a different browser (we recommend Chrome): Log in to the portal using a different web browser and follow the process to re-download the files.
- Open the file with Adobe Acrobat:
- Go to your computer's download folder (or where ever the file is).
- Right-click the file.
- Select Open with > Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Disable any pop-up blockers.
- Check your browser's download settings. Your browser's settings determine where and how files are saved.
Still not working? Switching browsers and opening the files with Adobe Acrobat usually does the trick, but if you are still having issues, try opening the files on a separate computer. Your computer settings may be causing the files to not open properly.
