Test the Connection on an RE2000 Time Clock Follow
If your RE2000 isn’t communicating as expected, you can run a built‑in diagnostic to check the device’s network connection. The connection test is available through the super administrator menu and displays the results directly on the screen, helping you confirm whether the time clock is connected and communicating properly. Follow the steps below to run a connection test on the device.
You will need the time clock admin and super admin passcodes to access the time clock menus. Reach out to the Administrator for your account regarding this information.
Note: If your device is running an earlier software version, it may not detect or connect to Wi‑Fi networks with an SSID (network name) of 16 characters or fewer.
This behavior applies during initial setup and is resolved in version 1.00.03.
If your network does not appear or you’re unable to connect:
- Confirm your Wi-Fi network name is 16 characters or fewer, or
- Use a temporary network with a shorter name to complete setup
After connecting, perform an /link to enable support for longer network names.
To run a network connection diagnostic on an RE2000 time clock:
- Press the MENU key.
- Enter your eight-digit super administrator passcode*.
- Press OK.
- Press OK to select Device Management.
- Press OK to select Diagnostics.
- Press OK to select Check Connection.
- The device will perform a connection test. Wait at least 30 seconds.
- The results will display on the screen.
If successful, the IP address of the Gateway will be displayed.
If unsuccessful, review the connection error, exit back to the main screen, then reconnect your time clock to your network after resolving any network-related issues.
*If this is your first time accessing this menu, enter the default password 31468912 and press OK. You will be prompted to create a new super administrator password.
