Find or Update an Employee Start Date Follow
There are two common ways to determine when an employee started in uAttend:
- View or update the employee’s Start (Hire) Date on their profile
- Run a Punch Report to identify the employee’s first recorded punch
This article walks through both options so you can choose the method that best fits your needs.
Option 1: View or Edit the Employee Start Date
The employee start date (also referred to as the Hire Date) is stored on the employee’s profile and can be viewed or updated by administrators and supervisors with the appropriate permissions.
To locate the employee start date:
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal as an Administrator or Supervisor (with profile edit permissions).
- Click the People tab.
- Select the employee’s name from the list or use the search icon to locate them.
- Open the Job and Pay tab.
- Locate the Hire Date field.
The Hire Date reflects the employee’s official start date in uAttend and may be used for reporting and payroll purposes (if payroll is enabled).
To edit or update the start date:
- From the employee’s Job and Pay tab, click into the Hire Date field.
- Enter the date.
- Click Save at the bottom of the profile.
Option 2: Run a Punch Report to See When the Employee Began Punching
If the Hire Date is missing, incorrect, or you want to confirm when the employee first started clocking in, you can run a Punch Report to view their earliest recorded punch.
This method is especially useful when the Hire Date field was not filled out or you need to confirm the first day the employee actually punched in.
To run a punch report:
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal as an Administrator or Supervisor.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Punch Report.
- Set the Date Range wide enough to include the employee’s expected start date.
- Use the Employees filter to select the specific employee.
- (Optional) Filter by Employee Status to include Active, Archived, or both.
- Run the report.
- Click the Date column to sort in ascending order.
The earliest punch shown in the report represents the first time the employee clocked in using uAttend.
Tips for Using the Punch Report
- The Punch Report displays raw punch data only (in/out times, punch method, and location).
- If you need total hours or payroll calculations, use a Pay Period Report instead.
- You can export, print, or save the report as a PDF for documentation purposes.
