7 - User profile types in uAttend Follow
Welcome! In this section, we’ll be going over the different profile types that you’ll find in your new uAttend account. There are 3 different profile types in uAttend,
- Employee
- Supervisor
- Admin
These profiles all have different permissions and uses, I will explain the differences between these profiles below.
Employee – The employee profile is used for your active employees; an active employee is an employee that uses the timeclock or other punch method to punch in/out. They have very limited permissions in that they cannot make any changes to the account or account settings. Active employees are counted towards your active user count which determines what price plan you need to be on.
Supervisor – A supervisor is not considered an active employee; these users are given permission to access your uAttend account and are allowed to make certain changes and add/archive employees. They can run reports and oversee departments and employees assigned to their departments. Supervisors are not considered active employees and are therefore not able to punch in/out. They also do not count toward your active user count and do not affect your price plan. We will go over them not being able to punch in/out at the end of this article.
Administrator – A account admin has full access to the account; they have all the permission of a supervisor and then some. Only an account admin can access the settings tab in the portal, that tab contains all your accounts pay period, and punch rule settings to name a few. The account admin also has access to the “My Account” page where you can view/edit your account info such as payment method, price plan, site URL, and bill-to email. Just like a supervisor an account admin is not considered an active employee and is not able to punch in/out. Each uAttend account has at least 1 account admin profile however, you can add additional admin profiles for a $8 fee per profile per month.
Great! With that out of the way, let’s discuss the question I know what you're thinking.
“Wait, supervisors and account admins can’t punch in/out?”
The short answer to that question is no, supervisors and account admins cannot punch in/out as they are not considered active employees. Because of this these profiles are not considered when selecting the price plan needed for your account. But don’t panic! There is a simple solution to this if you need a supervisor or account admin to be able to punch in/out all we need to do is create an employee profile for them. They will use this employee profile to punch in/out and allow the system to track their hours while using their supervisor/admin profile to oversee your employees or uAttend account. Great job!
