Set Up Employees for Remote Punching Follow

With uAttend, you have a variety of options to enable your employees to punch remotely, whether they use the smartphone app, web portal, touch-tone punching, or timeclocks. Each option offers flexibility and functionality tailored to different work environments.

Punching Remotely with the Smartphone App

If your employees have access to a smartphone and an email address, you can set them up to punch with our free mobile app. The app is included with your subscription and offers a robust solution for tracking time on the go.

Steps to Set Up Smartphone Punching:

  1. Enable the Allow Smartphone Punch setting in the employee's profile. 
  2. Set up the employee's username and email address in their profile. Each user must have a unique email address. 
  3. Click the Invite Person link to send an email to the employee to set up their password.

For bulk setups, use the Utility Tool to configure multiple employees at once. This tool will automatically email login credentials to each employee.

  • Perform department transfers (if enabled)
  • View and approve timecards (if enabled)

Punching Remotely Using the Web Portal

If your employees have access to a computer and an email address, you can set them up to punch through the web portal.

Steps to Set Up Punching in the Web Portal:

  1. Enable the Allow Website Punch setting in the employee's profile. 
  2. Set up the employee's username and email address in their profile. Each user must have a unique email address. 
  3. Click the Invite Person link to send an email to the employee to set up their password.

For bulk setups, use the Utility Tool to configure multiple employees at once. This tool will automatically email login credentials to each employee.

  • You can set up IP restrictions to prevent employees from punching outside specific addresses. 

 

Punching Remotely Using Touch-Tone Punching

uAttend also supports touch-tone punching, which is ideal for employees working in areas without internet access. This method allows employees to clock in and out using a phone's keypad.

Steps to Set Up Smartphone Punching:

  1. Configure touch-tone punching for your account and set up a phone number.
  2. Assign a PIN to each employee in their profile.

How Employees Punch with Touch-Tone Punching

  • Call the designated phone number.
  • Enter your company ID and their assigned PIN.
  • Transfer departments (if enabled)

Additional Settings

  • You can set up Caller ID Security to limit the phone numbers employees can use to punch adding an extra layer of control.

 

Punching Remotely Using a Time Clock

For remote sites with access to electricity and a network (Wi-Fi or LAN), you can set up a uAttend timeclock. Out timeclocks are ideal for indoor use making them perfect for remote offices or similar job sites.
